An "app" to find sustainable fashion from Latin America

The fashion movement Universo Mola and the Blockfashion company developed the application that seeks to promote the collaborative economy and contribute to designers and brands that are committed to responsible consumption. Valentina Suárez was born in Bogotá, Colombia, but since she was little she has lived in Uruguay. At the age of 12, she decided to be a fashion designer and, although people think it is a frivolous and banal industry, she is betting on the social impact it has. Since college she has been involved with sustainability and recycling projects, and in 2016, when she graduated, her mother and the one who has always supported her, Doris Helena Rojas, accompanied her in the creation of Universo Mola. It is a Latin American sustainable fashion movement that is part of the Entre Soles y Lunas Foundation, a platform created in 2006 by Doris Rojas that seeks to generate opportunities so that people do not have the need to migrate. “The foundation works from the environment, development and diversity. So she created an umbrella program called Heritage on the Move. People are a heritage, we move and help build societies. When I graduated as a designer, I saw the need to talk about the industry as an important heritage in Latin America and we created Universo Mola. For me, it was essential to work on sustainability in fashion and make visible what was happening to bridge bridges ”, says Suárez. tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech
