Heraclio Alfaro Fournier: biography of a pioneer in aviation from Vitoria

We chatted with its authors: the aeronautical engineer and pilot Jesús Sagastuy, and the chronicler and former player of Naipes Fournier José Luis Sáenz de Ugarte. And they welcome us at the Vitoria Aeroclub! Heraclio Alfaro Fournier was a man, and first a boy, extraordinary. In 1910, when he was only 16 years old, he built a glider and flew it on the Monte de la Tortilla in Gasteiz. At the age of 17 he went to France to learn to fly , when a plane had not even been seen in Spain. He became the youngest pilot in the world. Later he trained as an engineer in the USA and his contribution to aeronautics has been fundamental. José Luis Sáenz de Ugarte and Jesús Sagastuy collect the life and work of this aviation pioneer in an interesting 400-page biography and more than 500 photographs, many of them unpublished. The book is published by the Provincial Council of Álava. tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech tech
